The comparison to the financial crisis is an interesting one, and the conclusion that urgency made countries act is definitely true. These issues, however, are — as they always are — nuanced and multi-factorial. Therefore, I think that, in order to secure action on climate change, the issue must become:

  • Urgent
  • Less abstract
  • A vote winner — as you pointed out in your post
